Digital media specialist at Liverpool wins commendation!

Latamcyber is delighted to announce that Aneta Krzemien, PhD student at the University of Liverpool, and speaker at our net.art workshop held in FACT last May, has received a commendation for her research. All doctoral students in their second year have to present their work at the annual University of Liverpool Poster Day, the most recent of which was held last week, on Thursday 22 March. Aneta’s poster, entitled New Media in a Digital Age: The Role of New Media in Art, Society and Culture at the Turn of the Twenty-First Century, was awarded one of the judges’ commendations.

Aneta’s research is based on a series of case studies focusing on FACT – the first UK purpose-built new media gallery, and venue for our net.art workshop last year – and aims to examine the role of new media in transformations of contemporary art, culture and society. Looking at the main areas of FACT’s activities including exhibitions, public engagement programmes, festivals, projects in the public realm and across the city, her analysis concentrates on FACT’s role in the development of new media art and in promoting new tools for artists and audiences to initiate and participate in cultural projects, changing the role and perception of art within society.

Congratulations, Aneta, on your success!
