As part of her AHRC-funded project ‘Latin American Cultural Production Online, from 1990 to the Present’, Claire will be running two events in December in conjunction with Veterans in Practice and Tenantspin. Veterans in Practice is a Liverpool-based community group coordinated by Angharad Williams that meets weekly and works with digital artists to produce creative projects.
The first event will be a workshop taking place on Wednesday 12 December at 12.00, and will start with a working lunch held at The Brink, a recovery social enterprise in Liverpool that promotes the health and creativity of the local community, and works closely with local artists, musicians, poets and performers to put on a wide range of cultural events. Following this, from 1.00pm onwards, members of the group will participate in a workshop held in the MediaLab at FACT, where they will discuss Latin American digital art, in particular the work of the leading Argentine artist, Marina Zerbarini. There will be the opportunity to check out her work online, as well as prepare questions for discussion.
The follow-up event will be a telepresence event on Tuesday 18 December at 12.00, to be held jointly in the MediaLab, FACT and the Universidad Tres de Febrero, Argentina. During the event, participants in Liverpool will hook up with Marina Zerbarini via Skype, hear about her work from the artist herself, put their questions to her, and engage in discussions about collaborative projects.
Claire and the participants in the workshop and telepresence event will be reporting back after the events – watch this space!
