Introducing Carolina Brianezi-Melchior and Phoebe Cashman

Carolina Brianezi-Melchior and Phoebe Cashman are currently undergraduate students in the School of Languages, Cultures and Societies at the University of Leeds. They have spent the past year studying in Uruguay and have developed a great interest in Latin American society and culture. Final year sees them embark on a research project entitled “Race and Gender in Latin American Internet Cultures”.  The project is taking place during the academic year of 2015-2016, supervised by Thea Pitman, and encompasses finding a range of online media dealing with aspects of race and gender among Latin American groups, for example, blogs, social media and digital artwork. They intend to publish their findings on a range of online platforms during the course of the project.
