2008 AHGBI panel – Sheffield

On 26 March 2008, the group organized a panel on Latin American Cyberculture at the annual conference of the Association of Hispanists of Great Britain and Ireland (AHGBI), held at the University of Sheffield. Papers were given by Edgar Gómez Cruz (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya) on ‘Fotolog and Self Portraits of Young People: Identity Performance and Sociability on the Internet’, Claire Taylor (Liverpool) on ‘Net Practices, Online Communities, and the Virtual Subaltern? Latin America Blogs Back’ and Thea Pitman (Leeds) on ‘Tejiendo Redes: The Poetics of a Spanish American Internet’. The panel was chaired by Tori Holmes.
