Latamcyber is running several events in 2014 and 2015 as part of Claire’s AHRC-funded project on Latin(o) American Digital Art: Exhibitions and Audience-Participation Workshops.
Held in conjuction with FACT and with the Liverpool Independents Biennial, the events include:
Cities in Dialogue Exhibition
This exhibition brings together the work of four Latin American and Latino artists who each engage with the city space. Ranging from maps through to soundscapes and participation on the streets, the work of each artist aims to get the spectator to re-think the city, and discover the hidden memories it holds. See the page about the Exhibition for more details.
Workshops on the City as Interface
Our Artist in Residence for the project, Brian Mackern, will be running two workshops with the groups Veterans in Practice and Freehand. The workshops will focus on recording material – including sound, visual, written and graphic material. The material will be based upon the routes that undertaken in the city of Liverpool, which will then be used to create maps and cartography.
Artist in Residence Talks and Artworks
Our Artist in Residence will be delivering a talk at our forthcoming annual symposium on South American new media artworks, as well as developing his own works of art during his residence. You can catch up with him at the symposium, at the University of Liverpool, and at FACT, as he works onhis projects.
You can follow all of these events on twitter, and also participate yourself, using the hashtag #citiesindialogue, #citiesasinterface and #peersymposium2014
